What is a Healthy Natural Recipe?

Use Left & Right Arrow keys to Scroll Images

We are always on the look out for natural products, natural ideas, natural recipes for makeup and cosmetics that are healthy and non-toxic for us.

Unfortunately, "healthy" is a word that has been disgraced by most of the cosmetic and food industries. Here is an example.

Some accessories for home made cosmetics

During a visit to the vegan section of a large supermarket, we came across a product made out of aluminium alum.

It was housed in a conventional stick deodorant container but the only difference was that the stick was a solid mineral. The instructions where to apply the stick to a wet underarm and this would leave a layer of protection behind.

We were a little concerned about the only ingredient - Aluminium Alum.

Aluminium is toxic to the body and is linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer's disease. But, we are not scientists and the fact that it was located in the vegan section and the labelling clearly said NATURAL, we felt that there was enough credibility to try it out.

My daughter tried the product out for a few days while I researched the ingredient. After finding out as much as I could, we decided to discontinue using Aluminium Alum for the following reasons :

  • It is not natural. It is made using aluminium hydroxide, sulfuric acid and ammonium sulfate
  • It is an antiperspirant that works by constricting and blocking sweat glands. Deodorants kill bacteria living off the sweat, the cause of the odour, or mask the odour with scents
  • The FDA recommends that people with impaired renal function and children should not use this ingredient
  • It is suspected to be a persistent environmental toxin and an organ toxin
  • Aluminium in the body is a toxin and is linked to Alzheimer's and breast cancer. There is no scientific evidence linking Ammonium Alum to aluminium increase in the body, only persistent and educated speculation. We felt it would be prudent to use the Precautionary Principle in this case

This whole experience clearly illustrates the misuse of the public's trust by our Corporations and Governments.

I have no idea how a product made from aluminium hydroxide, sulfuric acid and ammonium sulfate can be called NATURAL.

The claim that the product is vegan appears to be true - there are no animal ingredients in the product at all but it does seem a high price to pay to keep it vegan.

We just seem to be getting back to the same issue over and over again.

  • We need to get back to our Natural Advantage
  • We need to learn about Natural Advantage Recipes
  • Even if our Natural Recipes do not meet our high expectations offered by their synthetic counterparts, what is the price that we will pay for this expectation?
  • Are shorter life spans, diseases and mutations worth it?

Whatever you decide to do ... it is up to you. You have one life and you need to make the most of it.

For us, we are gathering natural advantage recipes and publishing them on this site ... for us, and for whoever else that may be interested to join.

Be awesome and enjoy making your own cosmetics.

Why are natural advantage recipes important

They are important because there are simply too many toxins in present day commercial cosmetics. These toxins are accumulating in our bodies and the environment and slowly killing us.

Essential oil sun protection factors

This is a real little gem that many people don't know about. Most sunscreen recipes use titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as the primary sun protection ingredients. Essential oils offer SPF too.

Oils like carrot seed and raspberry offer about 1.5 times more SPF than the minerals do. You could use the oil on its own as a complete sunscreen solution.

Don't forget to read about SPF so that you understand what it means. We have 2 articles in this site that will take 2 minutes to read.
